Masters Workshops

The Masters level was created to identify the top 9 photographers in our society. The experience and skills of these members can be used to help and mentor other club members to improve their photography. The intent is to achieve higher quality results across the club.

This can be achieved through a series of monthly Masters Workshops. Masters level photographers or a recognised Subject Matter Expert (SME) will present a workshop to provide training or mentoring to the members of our club. In recognition of their work in preparing and presenting or organising an SME, masters level members will be awarded 50 points towards their aggregate points for the year.

Points

In order to achieve the points benefit, the workshop sessions need to be either delivered by the Masters level member themselves or presented by an experienced SME in the agreed workshop topic. In the case of an SME presentation, the Masters level member is responsible for contacting, communicating with and organising all aspects of the presentation.

The following details must be provided to the committee by 31 January each year to seek endorsement of the topic.

  1. proposed month for delivery of the workshop,
  2. topic
  3. summary of the content.

Each workshop should be between 1 and 2 hours long. It could provide some guidance or instruction on either:

  • different photography techniques,
  • how to take photos
  • how to produce similar photo’s to one's own, e.g. Lightroom or Photoshop instruction.

If travel photos are used, then the workshop should provide some idea of how, where and when the photos were taken to assist members in achieving higher quality photographs themselves.
