Annual Competition
The club's Annual photography competitions close each year on the second Tuesday of November. These are open competitions with no set topic. The competitions will be judged in the usual grades that apply for the monthly competitions.
There will be four competitions as follows:
- Annual Open Digital Competition (Judged in grade levels)
- Annual Open Print Competition (Judged in grade levels)
- Annual Monochrome Competition (Judged with no grade levels)
- Annual Drone Photography Competition (Judged with no grade levels)
Any image can be submitted for these competitions regardless of whether the image has won an award or not in the current or any previous year. Note that this is a different rule from the standard monthly competitions. Please see the monthly competition resubmission rules on the General Information page.
Judging will be conducted on the night by three or four judges on an "impact judging" system. The judges will score each image out of 10 points as it is displayed. The sum of all scores will be the image's score for the competition. Any tied awards will be displayed a second time for the judges to attempt to separate the scores.
First, second and third placings will be awarded rather than the usual Honours/ Merit/ Acceptance awards. Competition placings will be announced at the club's annual dinner rather than on the night. Placings will also be released after the dinner on the website on the Competition Results page.
Awards for the Annual competition do not contribute to the aggregate scores for the nine separate monthly competitions. There are separate awards for the annual open competitions given at the annual dinner.
